HFHCCO believes that all hard-working individuals and families should have access to the benefits and stability of homeownership. In this belief, we are committed to partnering with families to build safe, healthy, and affordable homes.
Our average cost to build each home is under $125,000 and is made possible by the generous support of our community. In addition to grants, large donations of materials and volunteer labor make it possible for us to sell homes to our partner families with a 0% interest mortgage.
Applicants must qualify to be selected for a home in Champaign County:
+ must have lived in Champaign County for one year
+ must be gainfully employed
+ must contribute 250 hours of sweat equity to assist in building their home
Pre-applications are available HERE or at the ReStore at 1007 N. Main Street in Urbana. Once the pre-application is submitted, it will be filed. An orientation meeting will be held, and all interested parties will be notified. Formal applications will be distributed at the orientation meeting. Applicants have two weeks to complete the applications and return them.
